Member of Parliament-elect and former DIG Nawa Raj Silwal says the government is abusing its power to conduct a witch-hunt against him.
Silwal, who is on the run since an arrest warrent was issued against him in a forgery case, says he will confront the government’s bid to take action against him.
In a tweet, Silwal, who contested the elections from Lalitpur-1 on a UML ticket, said,”I am a representative of the people and a law-abiding citizen. As time runs out, power is being used to avenge exact political revenge.. I will confront this relentlessly.”
Although Silwal has not explicitly mentioned who was ‘exacting political revenge,’ his remarks are believed to have been directed at the government as it comes a few hours after Nepal Police HQ issued a circular to its units to arrest Silwal.
The Supreme Court recently issued an arrest warrant against Silwal, who allegedly presented forged documents in a case related to the appointment of the country’s Inspector General. Silwal is believed to have fled from Nepal following the order.
