In yet another example of election violence in the run-up to the federal and provincial elections to be held coming Sunday, a CPN-UML leader has got injured in an attack on Sunday.

Hari Kafle, the UML Gandaki provincial committee member, was attacked at a resort in Palungtar municipality-7 of the district when he was having his dinner at around 11 pm yesterday, informs DSP Lilaraj Lamichhane.

He has an injury on his head and has been taken to Kathmandu for further treatment, according to police.

Meanwhile, Deepak Tamang, a member of the UML’s sports wing, has also sustained minor injuries.

Police have arrested Ajit Panta and Ram Thapa, residents of the neighbouring Tanahun district, on the charge of their involvement in pre-election violence. It has been learned that the accused are also members of the UML.
