Election Commission representative to resolve Pokhara vote counting dispute

The vote counting venue in Pokhara looks tense after discovery of some “forged” ballot papers, in May 2017.

Pokhara, May 22

A representative from the Election Commission central office has been invited to resolve the dispute among parties about resuming the halted vote counting in Pokhara Metropolitan City.

The counting has been halted since Saturday evening after some “forged” ballot papers were found in a ballot box reportedly.

The Commission had instructed local poll officials to resume the counting on Sunday, but the instruction did not work owing to disagreements of the parties.

Now, the poll officials have decided to resume the counting only after the parties form an agreement over the issue.

The parties as well as the EC representative will hold a meeting this afternoon to settle the dispute.
