Khotang, September 24
In view of heavy rain, all 10 local levels in Khotang have decided to close educational institutions for one to two days. All local levels in the district have given schools a holiday on September 24 and 25 due to the possibility of heavy rain, severe windstorms, and lightning. Two local levels have granted one day off (to be adjusted against winter or monsoon holidays), while eight local levels have given two days off.
Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality has issued a notice granting leave to be adjusted against local holidays. It has also urged parents not to let children go to areas at risk from rivers, streams, ponds, or landslides. Halesi Tuwachung Municipality has also given schools a two-day holiday and has urged residents living along the banks of the Dudhkoshi and Sunkoshi rivers to take precautions.
Kepilasgadhi Rural Municipality has given educational institutions a holiday on September 24, noting in its notice that it will decide on further holidays depending on the weather. Sakela Rural Municipality has also given a holiday on September 24, saying it will decide on further leave based on conditions.
Similarly, Aiselukharka, Khotehang, Jantedhunga, Diprung Chuichumma, Barahapokhari, and Rawabesi rural municipalities have each decided to give two days off.
Noting the possibility of heavy rain from September 24 to 27, the District Administration Office, Khotang, has also issued a notice urging people to remain highly alert.
