Durja Kumar Rai appointed APF chief

Durja-Kumar-Rai

Kathmandu, April 26

The government has appointed Durja Kumar Rai as Inspector General of the Armed Police Force (APF).

Rai had been working as acting Inspector General after his predecessor Koshraj Onta was charged with corruption by the CIAA.

Rai, who joined the Police force in 1986, has worked as chief of different area police offices in the Kathmandu Valley. He was appointed DIG on September 14, 2012.

The then government had been criticised for promoting Rai, who was allegedly involved in suppressing the second People’s Movement. He was promoted to AIG on December 1, 2013.
