Dr Pramod Joshi has been appointed member secretary of the Nepal Health Research Council. He took the oath of office and secrecy before Health and Food Hygiene Minister Nisha Mehta on Friday.
Dr Joshi has extensive experience in health research, medical services and administration. He previously served as the member secretary of the council.
Dr Joshi obtained his MBBS from Odessa State Medical University in Ukraine in 2000 and an MS in Orthopaedics and Trauma from the National Academy of Medical Sciences (NAMS) in 2009.
He also completed a fellowship in arthroplasty and arthroscopy at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital in India. He served as the council’s executive member secretary from 2024 to 2026.
Prior to that, he served as medical superintendent of the National Trauma Center, founding director of Geta Hospital and senior orthopaedic surgeon at Seti Provincial Hospital.
