Dr Govinda KC accuses Chief Justice of corruption, demands resignation as he begins 14th fast

Dr Govinda KC speaks with journalists in Kathmandu, on Monday, January 8, 2018.

Kathmandu, January 8

Enraged by the Supreme Court’s order to reinstate Dr Shashi Sharma as the Dean of Tribhuvan University Institute of Medicine, medical education reform activist Dr Govinda KC on Monday has accused Chief Justice Gopal Parajuli of being corrupt and colluding with the ‘mafia’.

Dr KC demands that Parajuli resign from the position.

Organising a press meet at the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, Dr KC also announced another round of fast-unto-death. It will be his 14th fast-unto-death in past few years demanding reforms in Nepal’s medical education sector.

“Our judiciary does not provide us justice, but buys and sells it. It is under the control of a gang which partners with corrupts and criminals, protects them, but punishes honest ones,” he said, “Now, we do not have any option to fighting against corrupt and mafia Chief Justice Gopal Parajuli to save the dignity of judiciary.”

Dr KC said he would begin the strike at 4 pm today.
