Kathmandu, February 24
Domestic air services will be suspended on March 5, the day scheduled for the House of Representatives election.
The Nepal Tourism Board issued a travel advisory for tourists informing them of this arrangement. However, international flights will operate as usual.
The Board stated that Nepal will remain open and safe for tourists during the election period and that it is coordinating with relevant authorities to ensure this.
Similarly, the Board has designated a contact person to provide necessary recommendation letters for vehicle passes from the District Administration Office to companies willing to operate shuttle bus services between the airport and hotels, and from hotels to the airport, on the day of the election.
The Board also informed that border points will be closed 72 hours before the election. It further stated that hotels, resorts, restaurants, and major historical sites across the country will remain open on the election day.
