Dhurmus, Suntali to complete cricket stadium project in 2.5 yrs, spending Rs 3 bln

Kathmandu, January 30

Dhurmus Suntali Foundation established by comedian duo Sitaram Kattel ‘Dhurmus’ and Kunjana Ghimire ‘Suntali’ have signed an agreement with Bharatpur Metropolitan City of Chitwan district to construct an international cricket stadium.

In the agreement, the Foundation has expressed a commitment to complete the project within next two and half years and hand over the stadium to the local government.

The preliminary cost of the project is Rs 3 billion. Dhurmus says the funds will be collected from contributions of Nepalis living in the country and abroad.

Meanwhile, the Metropolitan City handed over 20 bigaha eight kaththa (around 34 acre) land located in Bharatpur-16 to the project.

The Gautam Buddha International Cricket Stadium will have a capacity of 30,000 people. “It will be full of Nepali originality and a model for the world,” Dhurmus says, “We will meet all the criteria set by the International Cricket Council.”
