Dhading bus accident toll rises to 18, police identify 13 victims

Police have ascertained the identities of 13 passengers, who were among those who died in the Marpak bus accident in Dhading, and said the death toll has climbed to 18. They said while 17 passengers died on the spot, one passenger died in course of treatment at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Kathmandu.

Police officer Jawaharlal Sah told Onlinekhabar from the accident site that the victims included Rauta Tamang, Ram Chandra Sapkota, Ludra Bahadur Ghale, Tek Bahadur Tamang, around five-year-old Ravan Tamang, his mother Sri Maya Tamang and Kamala Poudel.

Sah identified the other victims as Dil Maya Adhikari, Manaji Jong Tamang, Rong Sing Tamang and bus driver Ganga Bahadur BK.

He said: Most of the dead are from Satyadevi VDC, some of them are from Ri VDC. We are making inquiries to ascertain their hometowns.

The deaths and injuries occurred when a bus heading for Kintangfedi from Dhadingbesi fell off the road at Marpak VDC on Tuesday morning.
