Kathmandu, September 25
The group led by former Nepali Congress president Sher Bahadur Deuba has deployed central representatives across the country as part of preparations for the party’s 15th general convention.
The group has appointed representatives for 76 of the country’s 77 districts, with no representative yet assigned to Rukum West. The representatives will coordinate convention-related activities at the district level.
The Deuba group is preparing to hold its 15th general convention from December 7 to 9, following ward-level conventions scheduled to begin on October 1.
Former general secretary Dr Shashank Koirala, who heads the 15th Central General Convention Preparation Committee, has been coordinating the process. The committee has also appointed district coordinators in several districts.
The Deuba group has been pursuing a separate convention schedule from the Nepali Congress establishment faction. The group has said it decided to move ahead with its own process after disagreements over the convention schedule and the party’s internal arrangements.
