DeerHack 2026 concludes, showcasing student innovation and sustainability-focused solutions

Kathmandu, June 16

DeerHack 2026, a three-day student-led hackathon organised by the DWIT Software Club, concluded on June 14 after bringing together young innovators from Nepal and India to develop technology-driven solutions to real-world challenges.

Held at the Deerwalk Complex in Kathmandu, the fourth edition of the event featured 17 teams competing across multiple tracks, including Artificial Intelligence, Environment, Interactive Technology and Blockchain. Participants spent 48 hours designing, developing and refining projects with guidance from mentors and industry professionals before presenting their work to a panel of judges.

Team Profit.exe emerged as the grand winner of DeerHack 2026. The team, comprising Deepa Khanal, Dipesh Singh, Sajan Sahi Karmi and Manee Das Shrestha, was recognised for its innovation, technical excellence and overall impact.

A major highlight of this year’s event was the introduction of the Environment Track, aligned with the theme of Environmental Sustainability. The category challenged participants to create technology-based solutions addressing environmental issues and promoting sustainable development.

The inaugural Environment Track title was secured by Team Goggins from G. H. Raisoni University in Pune, India. Team members Arya Manoj Mishra, Mansi Dubey, Gopal Parik and Advait Jha were honoured for developing a solution focused on environmental impact.

According to the organisers, DeerHack has grown significantly since its launch in 2023, evolving into one of Nepal’s leading student-led technology events. The hackathon has become a platform for developers, designers, entrepreneurs and innovators to collaborate and transform ideas into practical solutions.

Beyond the competition, participants engaged in networking activities, workshops and recreational events, including live music performances and sports matches, aimed at fostering collaboration and community building.

Organised under the leadership of event leads Drishya Karki and Shreyansh Pokharel, DeerHack 2026 concluded with organisers expressing appreciation to participants, mentors, judges, sponsors, volunteers and partner organisations for supporting the event.

The organisers said the event continues to strengthen a growing network of innovators in Nepal and beyond while encouraging the next generation of technology leaders to create solutions with lasting social impact.
