Death toll from Dadeldhura jeep fall climbs to seven, police probing cause of the accident

Dadeldhura, February 15

The death toll from Wednesday’s jeep accident in Amargadhi, Dadeldhura district, has climbed to seven. The victims are all from  Bhageshwor village development committee.

Five of the 11 passengers had died on the spot when the jeep bound for Dadeldhura district headquarters from Bhageshwor fell 130 metres down the road at Thulo Khola, Amargadhi-3, at 11.45 am.

Police identified those, who died on the spot, as Ganesh Karki of Bhageshwor-8, Laxman Bhatta and Jayananda Bhatta of Bhageshwor-4, and Kamdev Pandey as well as Narapati Pandey of Bhageshwor-5.

Diwakar Pandey and Padam Bahadur Malla of Bhageshwor-7 died while receiving treatment at Dadeldhura sub-regional hospital. One of the injured has been referred to Nepalgunj, while others have been undergoing treatment at the sub-regional hospital.

Police said they are investigating the cause of the accident.
