Cyclone Fani: Govt warns against helicopter flights

Kathmandu, May 3

National Emergency Operation Centre under the government of Nepal has urged tour operators not to fly any helicopters on Friday, citing bad weather due to Cyclone Fani.

The NEOC, which operates under the Ministry of Home Affairs, said that the cyclone’s effects would also be seen around the Himalayas where the weather is expected to get extreme.

Meteorological officials had earlier said that it was highly likely that the Himalayas would see heavy rainfall and snow.

The NEOC has also urged tourists around the Himalayan region not to be outdoors.

The cyclone made landfall on Odisha coast on Friday afternoon.
