Cycle lane to connect World Heritage sites in Kathmandu in the offing: Bhattarai

Yogesh Bhattarai addresses a function, in Pokhara, on Sunday, December 29, 2019.

Kathmandu, February 9

Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Yogesh Bhattarai says the government is preparing to open a cycle lane connecting all World Heritage sites of the Kathmandu Valley. He claims the government is finalising a plan for the project, adding it would make the heritage sites more attractive among foreign tourists.

Speaking at a function in Kathmandu on Friday, the minister also said the government was working to make sure that the tourists could visit Patan, Bhaktapur and Basantapur durbar squares in the nighttime also.

The minister assured the stakeholders that the UN cultural agency, UNESCO, would not keep the heritage sites of Nepal into any danger list now onwards.

Meanwhile, Bhattarai was also confident that the government could complete post-earthquake reconstruction works in such heritage sites within the next two years as planned earlier.
