Birgunj, February 20

The curfew order issued by the District Administration Office Parsa continues to remain in effect in certain areas of Birgunj Metropolitan City.

Chief District Officer (CDO) of Parsa district, Dinesh Sagar Bhusal, issued a notice on Monday evening and said that the curfew has been imposed since 5 pm on Monday until further notice.

The curfew, initially imposed indefinitely from 5 pm on Monday, was temporarily relaxed today from 6 am to 10 am. Bhusal said that the morning relaxation was implemented to accommodate the public’s convenience.

He further added that a meeting involving all parties would convene at 11.30 am to study the situation and come up with a decision. Based on the discussions during the meeting, a decision regarding the continuation or modification of the curfew will be made.

Curfew has been imposed in the areas within Nagawa Chowk in the east, Tilabe Bridge in the west, Parbanipur Parsa in nother and Miteri Pul (Custom) in the south of Birgunj city.

Bhusal shared that a curfew was imposed since a situation of clashes was created between two parties during the protest launched by the Hindu Samaj against a clash at Ishanath Municipality in Rautahat.

Security measures have been intensified in Birgunj Metropolitan City in response to the imposed curfew. Approximately 1,000 security personnel from the Nepal Police and Armed Police Force have been deployed across different locations to address security concerns, as confirmed by DSP Kumar Bikram Thapa.
