Biratnagar, March 21
The Morang District Administration Office on Monday has imposed a curfew in the Letang municipality where a violent mob attacked a policewoman to death on Sunday evening.
Chief District Officer Kashiraj Dahal imposed issued a notice in the wee hours on Monday stating the curfew would come into effect from 7 am on Monday until the next notice.
Earlier yearday, police constable Urmila Shrestha had died after sustaining injuries in the locals’ attack.
A local school teacher in Letang of Morang, Manoj Paudel, was accused of sexually abusing a minor student, and locals had staged a protest demanding action against him.
When the police had gone to the school to launch an investigation, the locals had accused them of trying to protect the perpetrator and resorted to the assault.
