CPN-Maoist Centre sets criteria for ministers representing the party in new government

Maoist-Headquater-Meeting

Kathmandu, July 28

The CPN-Maoist Centre has set criteria for appointment of ministers from the party in the new government.

The party meeting held at its headquarters in Paris Danda on Thursday laid down the criteria for ministers after a surge in the number of aspirants. The party is yet to make the criteria public.

The meeting decided to make candidates, who can deliver, ministers on the bases of proportionate and inclusive representation, party Spokesperson Pampha Bhusal said. But the party is yet to finalise names, she informed.

With Maoist leaders, who were part of the KP Oli government, also clamouring for ministership, the Maoist party is finding it tough to select ministers representing the party in the government. With the criteria already set, selecting ministers will not be difficult, Bhusal said, adding that the next meeting will finalise the names.

The party Secretariat’s meeting also dwelt on new government’s priorities. It decided to prioritise reconstruction of quake-ravaged structures and focus on conducting local, provincial and federal elections, apart from addressing demands of disgruntled parties.
