Tourism industrialists claim the Covid-19 crisis has completely shut 17 per cent of the hotels in Nepal so far.

In a recent meeting organised by the Confederation of Nepalese Industries, they also said the employment of over one million workers has been at stake due to the crisis.

Informing that many of the developed countries have barred their citizens from visiting Nepal or advised against this, they said the arrival of foreign tourists has been almost nil for the past one and a half years.

They demanded that government immediately vaccinate all of the citizens against the coronavirus infection so that the country could be promoted as a safe destination again. They also said the government should provide the industry with interest-free loan facilities to help it recover.

Speaking in the programme, the organisation’s vice-president Raj Bahadur Shah said the CNI would take initiatives to solve the problems raised during the discussion.
