Kathmandu, March 8

The government has begun preparations for the annual budget plan for the next fiscal year 2021/2022.

The National Planning Commission has directed concerned ministries and authorities to send to the Ministry of Finance the estimated budget ceiling they would need for the next fiscal year.

It has been said the Covid-19 crisis is highly likely to affect budget allocations to various development projects included in the 15th periodic plan. Therefore, most stakeholders are concerned about how the ministry will handle them.

Meanwhile, stakeholders have demanded that the government prioritise sectors hit by the pandemic and introduce projects focusing on employment generation and a speedy recovery from the Covid-19 crisis.

Nonetheless, allocations for national pride projects and game-changing projects would not be compromised, it has been learned.
