The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority has filed a corruption case in a special court against Pradip Bhattarai, a computer engineer working on a contract basis in the passport department, and a customer.

“A case was filed against Bhattarai, a computer engineer assigned to the passport department for the facilitation of national identity cards by the Department of National ID and Civil Registration, and Sumitra Sapkota a service recipient,” said Authority Spokesperson Narahari Ghimire.

The authority filed a case against Bhattarai for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 34,000 from Sapkota and against Sapkota for encouraging Bhattarai to accept the same bribe.

According to the authority, it was found that she colluded with Bhattarai and deposited the bribe amount in Bhattarai’s account.
