Kathmandu, June 21

The Kathmandu District Administration Office has remanded controversial activist Jwala Sangraula in custody for the next three days to investigate a charge related to indecent behaviours against her.

Along with Sangraula, her husband Himal Upadhyay and Sharmila Waiba have also been sent to custody.

Kathmandu’s Chief District Officer Kali Prasad Parajuli says the remand was ordered as per a demand of the police.

Sangraula was arrested in the capital on Sunday on the charge of assaulting Khusbu Ghimire (Nabita), a leader of the ruling CPN-UML’s youth wing.

Of late, Sangraula was also dragged into another controversy also as some of her supporters misbehaved with an on-duty traffic police staffer. Many people had found the misbehaviour apparently racist and called police to take action against them.

Following that, the law enforcers were searching for Sangraula.
