Kathmandu, May 2
The Constitutional Council on Tuesday recommended that Deep Basnyat be appointed the chief of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority.
Basnyat has been acting chief of the anti-corruption constitutional body since its chief Lokman Singh Karki was suspended after an impeachment motion was filed against him in October last year.
After Karki was disqualified for the position by the Supreme Court in January, Basnyat continued to lead the CIAA as the senior-most commissioner.
Now, he has to face the parliamentary hearing before being appointed by the President.
