Complaints have been sought against the four judges proposed for the Supreme Court.

At its meeting on October 6, the Judicial Council recommended four High Court judges for appointment as Supreme Court judges. They are Ratna Bahadur Bagchand, chief judge of the Pokhara High Court, and High Court judges Chandra Bahadur Saru, Janak Pandey and Gokarna Dangi.

Pandey is a judge on the Hetauda bench of the Patan High Court, while Saru is a judge of the Patan High Court. Dangi was previously a judge on the temporary bench of the Janakpur High Court in Birgunj.

The parliamentary hearing process for all four recommended judges has moved ahead.

In this process, the Parliamentary Hearing Committee of the Federal Parliament published a notice on Monday asking anyone with a notice or complaint to submit it within 10 days.

Notices or complaints can be submitted directly to the committee’s secretariat or through any District Administration Office.

The notice says, “Anyone who believes that the persons listed below are not suitable for appointment to the posts listed below should submit a notice or complaint, with clear grounds and evidence and in polite and dignified language, within 10 days of the date this notice is first published, during office hours, at the address below, directly to the committee’s secretariat, or at any District Administration Office. This notice is published for everyone’s information.”

Those submitting a notice must clearly state their name, surname, address and phone number. The complainant’s name will be kept confidential if they request it.

After complaints are received, the hearing committee will hold discussions with the complainants. The proposed judges will then face a hearing.

The proposed judges will be appointed after the Parliamentary Hearing Committee approves them.
