Police have detained some intellectuals and civil society leaders during a protest outside the prime minister’s official residence in Baluwatar of Kathmandu on Friday.

The detainees include Khagendra Sangraula, Narayan Wagle, Sanjeev Uprety, Archana Thapa, and Bhaskar Gautam. They had gathered there with placards to protest the alleged political interference in the Medical Education Commission.

They also said the government should not let private institutions use health service as a trade. They claimed the government was preparing to give affiliation to the controversial B&C Medical College without meeting the criteria.
