Chitwan woman death mystery: Body brought to Kathmandu for postmortem

File: Sujita Bhandari

Kathmandu, July 6

The body of Sujita Bhandari, who was found dead in a community forest in the Chitwan district of southern Nepal on Sunday, has been brought to the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Kathmandu for postmortem.

Bhandari was missing for nine days before her death and the family had claimed she was abducted stating they had received a call from her about the crime.

However, the police were clueless as no one received any calls for ransom after that. Instead, she had gone incommunicado. Neither had they found her around the location she called the family from on the first day.

While locals have been claiming it was a murder, the police say it could also be a suicidal case. Further investigation is underway.

Police hope the postmortem report could help them move the investigation forward and crack the mystery.
