Humla official: China constructed 9 buildings on Nepali land

Buildings allegedly constructed by China on the Nepali side, encroaching the Nepali land, in Limi of Humla, in September 2020.

Surkhet, September 21

China has allegedly constructed nine buildings, encroaching the Nepali land, in Humla, a northwestern district in Karnali.

After reports of the construction came out, the District Administration Office has formed a monitoring and supervision team to study the alleged encroachment. The committee led by Chief District Officer, Chiranjivi Giri, has gone to the site, Limi, Namkha rural municipality, on Saturday, informs Assistant CDO Datta Raj Hamal.

The team also consists representatives of nepal Army, Armed Police Force, Nepal Police and concerned local governments as members.

Hamal claims he also visited the site, located around two km away from the border on the Nepal side, two weeks ago. “We tried to consult the Chinese side around the project, but we were not allowed to go up to the place where buildings were constructed,” Hamal says, “Hence, we captured a picture from a distance.”

Meanwhile, Hamal says a nearby border pillar in the area is missing.
