Children’s Day: 16-year-old girl leads Morang local government for a day

Biratnagar, September 14

A 16-year-old child has been offered the role of the chief of a local government in the Morang district of Province 1 on Tuesday, on the occasion of National Children’s Day.

Susmita Rishidev led the Budhiganga rural municipality of the district today.

The local government has said she was given the role to make the children aware of what a local government is and how it functions.

Nepal celebrates Children’s Day on September 14 every year to commemorate Nepal’s ratification of the United Nations Convention of the Rights of the Child in 1990.
