Butwal-Narayangadh road expansion to begin in two weeks

Kathmandu, January 1

The first stage of the Narayangadh-Butwal highway expansion project will start from the second week of January, officials said.

The project, which aims to widen the highway to four lanes, will flag off after Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli inaugurates it next week, says Minister for Physical Infrastructure Raghubir Mahaseth. The highway is being expanded in two phases. Work is expected to begin in the second week of January.

China State Construction Engineering Corporation has won the contract to upgrade the highway. The work is being financed by the Asian Development Bank. China State has received a Rs 7 .86 billion contract for the first package and Rs 9.13 billion for the second.
