Kathmandu, October 8
Buddha Air has warned that misleading screenshots and other content created using Photoshop and artificial intelligence are being circulated on social media and some online media outlets regarding its airfares.
The airline said it has taken serious note of the circulation of such misleading content.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Buddha Air said it has been offering one-way flights from Kathmandu to Dhangadhi for Rs 10,800.
The airline said tickets on most flights have already been sold out on many days because of the availability of tickets at the minimum fare.
Road transport was disrupted for an extended period after the Rasuwa floods and landslides caused extensive damage to highways. In response to the disruption, Buddha Air had announced that it would offer tickets at the minimum fare from Dashain to Tihar, until road transportation became easier.
The airline said it has been implementing the fare arrangement accordingly to provide passengers with affordable and convenient air services during the disruption.
Buddha Air also warned that if any individual, travel agency or other party is found selling tickets at prices higher than those listed through its official booking and sales channels, it will take legal action in accordance with the law.
The airline urged passengers not to form opinions about airfares based on misleading information or screenshots circulated through social media and other unauthorised channels.
Passengers have been advised to check Buddha Air’s official website, mobile application and authorised sales channels for accurate information on fares and ticket availability.
The airline said the number of passengers travelling out of Kathmandu is currently higher than those flying into the capital. It has also introduced a promotional-code offer for passengers travelling to Kathmandu at minimum fares.
The promo code can be obtained through Buddha Air’s website and mobile application.
Buddha Air said it remains committed to providing convenient, safe and affordable air services to passengers and the general public during times of disaster.
