Pokhara, June 14
Police on Tuesday arrested leader of Biplav-led CPN-Maoist party, Govinda Oli ‘Sabin’, on the charge of arson attacks at NCell towers located in Bharatpokhari and Dhikurpokhari of Kaski district. Oli is member of the party’s Kaski district committee.
Spokesperson for Kaski district police, DSP Gajusiddhi Bajracharya, said police arrested Oli from outside the party’s office at 5 pm on Monday, on the charge of involvement in arson attacks at NCelll towers. He said Oli is under investigation.
The Maoist party has confirmed Oli’s arrest and demanded his release.
In a press release, Purnajit Pun, Kaski district secretary of the party, accused police of arresting Oli on the basis of political bias. It threatened to launch a struggle against bid to frame Oli if he is not released.
