Kathmandu, May 9

Major three political parties and the Madhesh-centric Rastriya Janata Party Nepal have agreed to continue discussions on the constitution amendment, which the RJPN has set as a precondition for its participation in the second phase of local level elections.

During the meeting held at the PM’s residence in Baluwatar, leaders of Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and CPN-Maoist Centre have agreed to hold further discussions to ensure participation of the RJPN in the June 14 polls, the PM’s Secretariat informed.

They were of the view that the constitution amendment should be endorsed on the basis of political consent.

On the occasion, PM Pushpa Kamal Dahal told leaders that the government was working to ensure maximum consent for the constitution amendment, hence all the parties should be united to make the local level elections a success.
