Kathmandu, June 4

A lawmaker of the ruling Nepal Communist Party has commented that all political parties of ruling and opposition sides have been forging consensus on big corruption scandals of the country.

Ghanashyam Bhusal is of the view that big corruption cases cannot take place without an agreement of key political parties.

Addressing a House of Representatives meeting on the new budget plan in Kathmandu on Tuesday, a critical Bhusal said, “Do you think only the bureaucracy can do a corruption case involving more than Rs one billion?”

“But, if there is action, only the bureaucrats are punished.”

Meanwhile, Bhusal said the society was gradually getting trapped in corruption due to growing comprador capitalism in political parties.

“The parties are not corrupt themselves, but they are corrupting others.”

Bhusal called on the parties to take the issue seriously.
