Man killed in Bhaktapur’s midnight accident

Kathmandu, April 26

One man died in a midnight road accident at Chardobato, Madhyapur Thimi municipality-4 of the Bhaktapur district, east of Kathmandu, on Monday midnight.

The victim has been identified as Gyanendra Malla Thakuri (32), a resident of Bethanchok rural municipality-6 of the Kavre district, but currently residing in Jhaukhel, Changunarayan-3 of Bhaktapur.

Thakuri’s scooter (Bagmati Province 02-023-Pa 7769) was hit by a tipper (Ba 4 Kha 8581) at around 12:30 am last night, according to police. Seriously injured in the accident, he was taken to the Madhyapur Hospital, where he breathed last during treatment.

Meanwhile, the pillion rider, Bimal Shrestha (33), a resident of Beni municipality-4 of the Myagdi, is injured and is undergoing treatment at the same health facility.

Police have arrested the tipper driver, Tul Bahadur Sapkota (36), a resident of Doramba-4 in Ramechhap, currently residing in Madhyapur Thimi-7 of Bhaktapur, for further investigation and action.
