Baneshwor tense after protester killed in police firing

Kathmandu, September 8

Tensions escalated further in Baneshwor Chowk after a protester was killed in police firing.

Although the government has declared a curfew, it appears to be ineffective as demonstrators continue their agitation with greater anger than before.

Protesters have clashed with security forces repeatedly, while police stationed inside the Parliament complex have been firing tear gas, rubber bullets, water cannons, and even throwing bricks to disperse the crowd.

Demonstrators have also made repeated attempts to set fire near the corner of the Parliament premises at Baneshwor.

Several people have been injured amid the chaos and stampede-like situation.
