Ballot boxes to be brought to district headquarters; counting after Dec 7

Voters line up to cast their ballots, in Rolpa, November 26, 2017.

Kathmandu, November 26

Voting under the first phase of provincial and federal parliamentary elections is concluding at 5 pm today.

The Election Commission says those who reach the voting centre by 5 can cast their ballots.

Meanwhile, the Commission is planning to transport all ballot papers from voting centres to respective district headquarters by tonight.

However, ferrying the ballots will be impossible in some high mountainous parts due to difficult terrain; and helicopters will be used for the transportation in such places tomorrow, according to the Commission.

Counting of votes, however, will begin only after December 7, when other 45 districts of the country will go for polls in the second phase.

Other 32 districts held voting today.

Till December 7, the ballot boxes will be kept in the district headquarters guarded by political parties, district administration offices and security agencies.
