Singer Ashra Kunwar was honored with a musical award for her song “Itihaas Timro Mero” at the 1st Top Shop Kathmandu 8848 Himalayan Music & Film Award USA 2025, held at Melrose Ballroom in Long Island City, New York.
The award ceremony featured performances and appearances from over 20 celebrated artists, from Nepal’s entertainment industry, including actor Rajesh Hamal and musicians Bikram Bista, Prakash Shrestha, and Shambhujit Baskota, and among other.
Kunwar’s award-winning song, produced by Mint Audio Studio Nepal and featuring artist Neetesh Jung Kunwar, was praised for its emotional depth and artistic quality. The music video, filmed in California, was created in collaboration with Iraala Mode and Losmandu, with visual artist Sathachhe also contributing to the project.
During the winning speech she said, “They say the real glory lies in rising each time we fall. This moment, coming from Nepal to New York and being recognized like this, gives me the strength to keep being relentless, keep showing up, and keep blending art with activism.”
Kunwar also expressed gratitude to her parents, Abha and her father, for instilling purpose in her journey, and dedicated the award to dreamers everywhere:
“This one’s for every dreamer carrying a piece of Nepal wherever they go.”
