Senior-most member of the House of Representatives, Arjun Narasingha KC, 78, has taken the oath of office and secrecy. He was administered the oath by President Ram Chandra Paudel at an event held at Sheetal Niwas today.
KC was elected under the proportional representation system from the Nepali Congress in the House of Representatives Elections held on March 5.
After taking the oath from the President, KC will administer the oath of office and secrecy to 274 members of the House of Representatives on March 26, Thursday. Until a Speaker is elected, he will also preside over the meetings of the House.
In the House of Representatives Elections, 165 members were elected through the first-past-the-post system, while 110 were elected through the proportional representation system.
