Kathmandu, March 27
Nepal Police says it received 293,216 applications for 100,000 temporary police positions for the May 13 local elections.
Giving a period of one week, the national police organisation had called applications from qualified and interested candidates.
Central police spokesperson Bishnu Kumar KC says the accumulation of the applications received in all 77 districts showed it received the applications almost three times the vacant positions.
A selection committee headed by the chief district officer has been formed to carry out the recruitment process.
