Applicants must declare non-party membership for Vice-Chancellor

To fill the vacant post of Vice-Chancellor of Tribhuvan University, the government has issued the ‘Procedure for Selection and Recommendation of Vice-Chancellor of Tribhuvan University, 2024.’ According to the procedure, the interested candidate must also submit a self-declaration letter that they are not a member of any political party along with the application.

It is stated in the procedure, “According to customary law, a self-declaration letter must be submitted having eligibility for appointment to public office and declaring not a member of any political party.”

According to the current procedure, professors will also be eligible to compete for the post of Vice-Chancellor of the University.

In the procedure issued on Monday, it is mentioned that the candidate should have experience as a professor at any university and the educational qualification should be at least a master’s degree.

The applicants must apply along with the documents specified in the procedure within 15 days of the publication of the notification, i.e. on January 22. The secretariat of the recommendation committee has been designated by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology. Education Secretary Suresh Adhikari and University Assembly member Chandrakala Ghimire are members of the recommendation committee.
