Apex court order against sacking of NEA officials sparks protest

Kathmandu, January 3

A group of people staged a demonstration at Maitighar, Kathmandu, on Tuesday. Under the banner of Kharpachok Youth Club, the group protested the Supreme Court’s interim order against government’s decision to fire three Board members of Nepal Electricity Authority accused of opposing NEA executive director Kul Man Ghising’s campaign against load-shedding.

The protesters were demanding that the court let Ghising do his work. They were demanding annulment of the interim order and action against those behind 18-hour-daily load-shedding schedule.

Police arrested demonstrators as they were heading towards the Supreme Court to stage a demonstration in front of the court.
