Despite a significant rise in the number of Covid-19 cases in the province, the Karnali government has decided to open schools in three upper districts of the province with necessary precautions.

Likewise, the government has also decided to open the districts of Mugu, Humla, and Dolpa for the collection of yarsagumba, a fungus with high medicinal values.

In order to prevent the outbreak in these districts, the government has decided to stop the locals returning from India in Surkhet, a lower district where the provincial capital lies, and quarantine them there.

A recent meeting of the Provincial Disaster Management Centre led by Chief Minister Mahendra Bahadur Shahi made the decisions, according to Social Development Minister Dal Rawal.

He says the provincial government will coordinate with the federal government in implementing these decisions.
