Kathmandu, December 10

Police on Tuesday morning baton-charged a few football enthusiasts who were looking for tickets of the final match under the 13th South Asian Games.

Nepal and Bhutan are playing the final at Dasharath Stadium at 3 pm today. Many fans of Nepali football had gone outside the stadium this morning looking for tickets after they were already sold out. Hence, police baton-charged order to disperse the crowd.

Meanwhile, police also manhandled a journalist. Nagarik daily’s Suman Chapagain says he was beaten up by the personnel after he photographer them hitting the common people.

SSP Uttam Raj Subedi, chief of the Metropolitan Police Range, however, says the security personnel did not use force. “They did not leave the place when we told them. So we pushed them out. We did not use force.”
