After presenting credentials, Indian ambassador rushes to meet politicians

Newly appointed Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Vinay Mohan Kwatra is busy meeting political leaders in Kathmandu after presenting his credentials to President Bidya Devi Bhandari in Kathmandu on Thursday.

Kwatra had landed in Kathmandu to assume his new role on Sunday.

After submitting his credentials, the diplomat rushed to the offices of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Ishwar Pokharel and Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Kumar Gyawali for separate meetings on Thursday. He also paid a courtesy call on Vice-President Nanda Bahadur Pun on the same day.

The next day, he went to the residence of the senior leader of the ruling Nepal Communist Party, Madhav Kumar Nepal, in Koteshwar. Nepal is celebrating his birthday today.

The party’s international affairs department deputy chief, Bishnu Rijal, says the former prime minister and the ambassador discussed how to strengthen the ties between the two countries. The ambassador also wished Nepal a happy birthday, according to Rijal.

Meanwhile, Kwatra also met the main opposition leader and former prime minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and Energy Minister Barsha Man Pun also, today itself.
