Kathmandu, March 18

The ward 3 office of Bagmati rural municipality in Lalitpur has announced to restrict the operation of vehicles on the Tinpane-Tamakhani road section in its jurisdiction in protest of alleged misbehaviour by some police personnel.

Mentioning that the personnel of Chapagaun-based Metropolitan Police Circle misbehaved with the people’s representatives, the ward office has issued a statement on its letterhead declaring to block the Kanti Lokpath section.

As per the chairperson Bishnu Prasad Timilsina, the Tinpane-Tamakhani road section will be closed for an indefinite period from Thursday. However, the vehicles carrying milk and vegetables, ambulances and other emergency vehicles will not be stopped during the shutdown.

According to Timalsina, there was a clash between the locals at Chapelo, Bhattedada, on Tuesday. He said that while the two sides were meeting to settle the ongoing dispute, a team led by Inspector Rajan Lamsal manhandled the chairperson and other members.

He has demanded that the concerned authorities carry out an investigation into this incident and take action against the involved police personnel including Lamsal.
