Kathmandu, October 28
The Gas Dealers Federation Nepal has welcomed a directive from Nepal Oil Corporation. The directive requires VAT bills to be issued for the sale and distribution of LP gas.
The federation stated on Wednesday. It said the corporation’s step is very welcome.
On October 26, the corporation’s LP Gas and Aviation Department wrote to all gas industries. It asked them to arrange for sellers to give bills to buyers.
The corporation had said complaints were rising as gas sellers were not giving bills or invoices to consumers after selling gas.
The federation’s statement says it has repeatedly made requests and suggestions to the corporation. These were meant to make the gas business more orderly and safe.
The federation believes compulsory VAT bills or invoices will be a milestone in this sector, helping to bring order to the gas trade.
Federation President Gyaneshwor Aryal has urged all gas businesses to follow the corporation’s directive fully. The federation has also asked consumers to make a habit of asking for a bill or invoice from the seller every time they buy gas.
