Kathmandu, September 21
Industry Minister Deepak Kumar Sah has said the supply of cooking gas in the market is gradually becoming easier.
Speaking at a meeting of the House of Representatives, he said the government’s continuous efforts had helped restore two-way traffic on the road obstructed at Krishnabhir from September 17.
“With this, the supply of gas in the market has been gradually becoming easier,” he said.
He said the government had been coordinating with the Ministry of Industry, local administration and security agencies to facilitate the transportation of gas in the Kathmandu Valley.
He said 1,000 gas cylinders that had been hidden at various locations were seized and distributed to consumers.
The minister said the government would take action against those involved in wrongdoing and that such action would continue.
He said consumers should not have to remain uncertain about whether they would be able to obtain gas during the upcoming festive season.
He said the government’s responsibility regarding gas supply should not be measured by the number of meetings held or announcements made, but by concrete results, including whether cylinders reach consumers on time, whether prices remain transparent and how quickly complaints are addressed.
“We want to reassure all consumers that you do not need to remain uncertain about whether you will get gas during the upcoming festive season. The government will resolve this problem before the festive season,” he said.
He added that along with addressing the immediate problem, the government was also working on a long-term plan.
