Bailey bridge planned after Budhi Gandaki flood washes away Aarughat-Dhading bridge

Budhi Gandaki

Kathmandu, October 11

Authorities are preparing to install a Bailey bridge after a mud-laden flood in the Budhi Gandaki River swept away the motorable bridge connecting Aarughat in Gorkha with Dhading.

The Gorkha Road Project said preparations were underway to bring Bailey bridge components from the Road Division Office in Hetauda.

“The materials are being arranged from Hetauda. They will probably arrive by tomorrow, and work will begin as soon as they arrive,” said Binod Pun, chief of the Gorkha Road Project.

The Nepali Army said a team had already been deployed to the site on Sunday to prepare for the bridge construction.

Birodh Rijal, commander of Rudradhwaj Battalion, said a team had been sent to conduct a reconnaissance of the site and that construction would begin once the materials arrived from Hetauda.
