Committee formed to investigate school bus accident in Pokhara, report due within five days

Pokhara Metropolitan City has formed a committee to investigate the accident involving a Kalika Boarding School bus that was bringing students from Majhthana in Pokhara Metropolitan City-28.

According to Mayor Dhanraj Acharya, the committee has been formed to establish the facts of the accident, identify its causes, and recommend the improvements needed to prevent such accidents from recurring.

The committee is coordinated by Badrinath Subedi, senior education officer at the metropolitan city. Its members are mechanical engineer Saroj Chalise, metropolitan education committee member Dolraj Pandey, city police inspector Purushottam Thapa, and assistant traffic inspector Amrit Bhattarai.

The committee has been tasked with studying and investigating the cause of the accident and related matters in detail and submitting a report within five days. It will also offer recommendations on the safety of school vehicles, the safe commute of students, and the precautions to be taken in future.

Stressing that student safety is a shared responsibility, Acharya called on all concerned parties to ensure regular inspection of school vehicles, strict compliance with safety standards, and effective monitoring.
