Four of the five people who died in this morning’s school bus accident in Pokhara, Kaski, have been identified.

The identified victims are Mamata Tiwari, 15, Asim Kandel, 13, Baburam Tiwari, 65, and Subechchha Tiwari, 15. The fifth victim, a girl thought to be about 15 years old, has not yet been identified.

The bus, which belongs to Kalika Boarding School in Shanti Maidan, met with the accident at a place called Okhlebhir while returning from Majhthana in Pokhara Metropolitan City-28 Friday morning. Those involved were rescued and brought to Western Regional Hospital for treatment.

According to a statement issued by the hospital, five of the 17 people brought in were already dead on arrival. The remaining 12 are undergoing treatment. Ashmi Kandel, 16, is being treated in the ICU.

Other injured include Sonia Tiwari, 13, Sneha Khatri, 14, Ankit Parajuli, 13, and Smriti Khatri, 15.

Supriya Acharya, 14, Merina Tiwari, 15, Akriti Budhathoki, 14, Arjun Shahi, 31, Yaman Magar, 16, and Tul Bahadur Gurung, 57, are also receiving treatment.
